Short Summary
An 800m² childcare facility, based in Melbourne’s north, requiring a comprehensive waterproofing solution across multiple areas, including below-screed, external playground areas, exposed surfaces and staircases.
Challenge
The project was completed through the Melbourne winter, creating challenging conditions for waterproofing application and drying times. The project also required different waterproofing systems to accommodate the range of areas and exposure conditions, including UV and slip-resistance requirements for exposed staircases.
Solution
DUROMASTIC™ ACS-2 was applied below the screed, providing a robust waterproofing system. DUROPROOF™ NEP SL was used above the screed, with a UV-stable, non-slip topcoat system specified for the exposed areas and staircases to provide additional durability and safety.
Outcome
The project was successfully waterproofed across the various application areas, with systems selected to suit the individual site conditions and performance requirements. Despite the challenging Melbourne winter conditions, the waterproofing works were completed to the required standard, providing a durable solution for the childcare facility.
