Commercial Trafficable Roof Top – Sydney

📍 Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia

📅 Date: 01 Mar 2018

Short Summary

This project involved waterproofing approximately 2,500 m² of a commercial rooftop in Sydney.
The building manager required a fast‑curing, high‑performance waterproofing system that was UV stable and could withstand heavy foot traffic.

Challenge

The existing rooftop needed a robust waterproofing solution able to cope with constant exposure, UV radiation and regular pedestrian traffic.

The client required a system that would cure quickly to minimise downtime, while providing long‑term protection against water ingress and surface deterioration.

Solution

After consultation with the Durotech team, a multi‑coat waterproofing system was specified and installed.

The system comprised a WB Epoxy primer and moisture barrier, Duroseal 25 FC polyurethane joint sealant, Duroproof PPM/SL self‑levelling polyurethane membrane, and Duroproof ATC UV‑resistant trafficable topcoat.

The membranes were applied by brush and squeegee, utilising the self‑levelling characteristics to efficiently cover large areas and achieve a uniform finish

Outcome

The self‑levelling, UV‑stable trafficable polyurethane system delivered performance beyond the building manager’s expectations.

The roof now has a smooth, high‑quality, mirror‑like finish with excellent durability, high traffic resistance, low VOC and low odour characteristics.

The client gained a long‑term waterproofing solution that combines strong aesthetics with proven protection and reliability
